Momma Opal needs prayers and Funds…

Late last night (December 5, 2024) we noticed some discharge in Opal’s kennel. Fortunately Opal weaned her 11 puppies last week and they are all doing well. We took Miss Opal to the vet this morning suspecting she may have Pyrometra. The vet is consulting with the surgeons to determine what the next step is, possible surgery for Pyrometra and/or possibly Mastitis. She is at the vet and so we do know this will be an expensive process. We sure could use some help with the surgery costs.

Opal’s background – Opal spent many years having many litters fending for herself on a reservation in SD. In September, 2024, a SD rescue were finally able to trap Opal after many years of trying. They had rescued many of her previous litters but were never able to trap Opal. They didn’t give up and finally were able to trap her. Opal was quite pregnant and wouldn’t allow people to touch her. We were able to work with the SD rescue, some transporters and she arrived at Dachsies to Danes on September 28th.

After a week with the kind hearts and hands of the Ranken family, Opal began to trust and allowed them to touch her. On October 17th, Opal delivered her 11 puppies in the warm, safe environment at DND. She has been an amazing mom, which we knew and weaned the puppies herself last week at 6 weeks. All 11 puppies are doing great and Opal has been doing amazing until last night (12/5).

Please help us give this amazing Momma dog an opportunity to have a life of a much loved dog, free from raising litters and fending for herself. Opal so deserves a chance at the comfy life, with a warm house, soft bed, good regular meals and a family to spoil and love her as she has loved all of her puppies over the years.
