Adoption Process
If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs
- Review our Facebook page for the most information about each dog. If you are not on Facebook, please review the photos above of available dogs and send us an email requesting more information about the dog(s) of interest.
- Complete an application online using the menu link or the Application button.
- We will review your application as soon as possible and will contact you with questions and status. Please be patient as there are only a few of us.
Donate to the Minnesota Chessies
In November, we became aware of a few young male Chesapeake Bay Retrievers that were being found in Minnesota. The dogs were all young intact males and found in communities near each other. A small group of rescuers, Chessie people, local rescuers and concerned citizens came together to assist capturing and getting these dogs to safety. To date we have been able to find homes for two. The other four needed a safe place so we have been bringing them here once they complete their MN stray hold and obtain required vetting. Please donate towards their medical expenses as each required vetting in MN is between $163-$350 per dog. Due to the volume of dogs and shortage of vet appointments we often have to go to the vet that has an open appointment.

Donate to the Quill Dogs and Litter from MN
On Friday November 3, 2023, a hunter found three dogs with faces full of quills. Through a series of Facebook shares, the trio was able to receive much needed veterinary care and transported to a safe place. Over the next week, the dogs were seen by another vet to get vaccinations and paperwork necessary to be transported to our rescue in Steward, IL. Dogs all tested positive for some tick borne diseases. The male dogs were started on antibiotics immediately. The female was very pregnant and on November 8, 2023, she delivered six healthy puppies (3 males and 3 females). The dogs are all safe at our facility and will be available for adoption eventually.
